RESULTS, NORM GROUPS, AND LANGUAGES
BRIGHT results are presented on a STEN scale for each behavior. The STEN scale is a ten-point scoring system, where STEN stands for Standard Ten. Each STEN score corresponds to a percentage of the norm group—see the distribution here.
There are six norm groups available: international, Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, Finnish, and Mexican (collected in 2019). These norms represent a working population in service roles, with each norm group consisting of more than 300 people.
Select the appropriate norm based on the job location or the company culture where the role is performed.
When completing BRIGHT, the test participant is given the option to select the language they are most comfortable with when entering demographic data. As the test administrator, you cannot control which language the participant chooses for the test. However, you must ensure that the invitation template you use is in a language the participant understands. A set of standard templates in various languages is available in the dropdown list above the invitation.
Keep in mind that the choice of language is important for the outcome. If the participant does not speak any of the languages in which BRIGHT is available (Swedish, English, Danish, Chinese (Mandarin), Finnish, Norwegian, Polish, and Spanish), you should consider other methods for assessing attitudes and behaviors related to service.
