LEADERSHIP PERSPECTIVE

The leadership perspective in OPTO is based on the 8 dimensions grouped into two overarching categories:

Social Leadership, which includes text based on scores from the dimensions: Influence, Resilience, Compliance, and Cooperation. Social leadership provides a perspective on how the person demonstrates leadership, in other words, the extent to which they are perceived as a leader.

Effective Leadership, which includes text based on scores from the dimensions: Efficiency, Delivery, Innovation, and Quick Thinking. Leadership effectiveness refers to how the person initiates activities and drives toward goals.

The leadership perspective text is divided into two ranges for each dimension: Scores of 1-5 and 6-10 on the STEN scale. Theoretically, the leadership perspective is based on a comprehensive meta-analysis of traits in leadership research (Judge et al., 2002), using the Five-Factor Model (FFM) as a framework. The study concludes that there is strong support for this perspective when traits are organized according to FFM. Combined with our own study on convergent validity, it was possible to organize the dimensions according to the Big Five factors' relationship to leadership, based on theory. The dimensions and aspects are not psychometrically linked to the two groups in the leadership perspective but are intended solely to enhance the test taker's self-understanding.

The test user can use this perspective to highlight aspects of leadership, for example, when recruiting a new manager or as part of a talent program.
